Welcome to the 5th Day of Last Minute Christmas Gifts!  Today’s tutorial is a quick one too, like yesterday’s Little Teabag Pouches… in fact it is so quick and easy it hardly needs a tutorial… but here it is, my Lavender Turnovers!

I can’t remember when I first started making these.. but it was quite a while ago. One day I just came up with the idea to take a charm square, fold it in half on the diagonal, sew the edges and stuff it with lavender..

Sometimes these ideas just come to you… usually in the middle of the night… sound familiar?

Like I said, this tutorial is hardly worth writing because you could probably all look at the picture and work it out yourselves…

But I’ll do a tutorial anyway… just in case someone needs it 🙂

What you need to make a Lavender Turnover:

• charm squares (5″ squares)
• lavender

Lavender Turnovers Step 1

Take a charm square and fold it in half on the diagonal. Start sewing down one edge:

Turn the corner and sew a couple of inches in on the next side. Leave a one or two inch gap and start sewing again till the end:

Go pick some lavender from your hedge:

If you don’t have a hedge, go see if your neighbor has a hedge or lavender bush.

If your neighbor doesn’t have one, ask a friend.

If your friend doesn’t have any lavender bushes… well… hmmm… I don’t know.. you must be able to get some somewhere!! Just get some!!

Lavender Turnovers Step 3

Once you have your lavender, take it all off the stalks and pop it in a bowl…

Start filling those turnovers…

You could use a spoon, or a funnel.. but your fingers work just as well…

Once they are filled, all you need to do is close up the hole…

Nearly done…

Like the Little Teabag Pouches, these take less than 5 minutes to make… (oh and of course as Dione said in the comments yesterday, you could even put lavender in the teabag pouches!)

Oh, and while you are picking lavender (from wherever you can find it) (Headsup, Shez has planted some..), you can make a cute little lavender bouquet with a simple ribbon tied in a bow…

These are even quicker to make than the turnovers and add a nice little touch to a pressie…

Now go find some lavender… well, I guess you need to be in the southern hemisphere because lavender is in season now in Oz… but you might find some somewhere!
