I have suddenly become obsessed with making doilies… I made two on the weekend…

I followed Lori Holt’s tutorial – I love her tutorials, they are so easy to follow. I do pause it a lot while I do my round and then start watching again when we get to the next one…
This time, I used my cotton yarn that I bought from Bendigo Woollen Mills about four years ago... and I have to say it crochets up very nicely. The result is much better than the last one I did with polyester...

Lori of course uses her Chunky Thread and I do have some of it, but I am hoarding it because it’s pretty expensive for me to buy it in USD and then ship over to Australia, so I’m glad I’ve found an alternative here…
I wanted to make a few of these to scatter around the house, one for under this candle latern in the lounge:

The other one goes nicely under my teapot:

…….on my sewing table.. which one day I need to actually sew on rather than just sit things on!!!!

It also looks nice under Sapphy’s new food bowl…

Haha! But she is not getting it because she is a messy eater and my doily is far too precious to get that dirty!
I haven’t blocked them or anything – I might give them a press so that they lay a bit flatter, but other than that I am quite happy with how they turned out!
I will make some more I’m sure, but right now I need to finish off the blanket I was making…
In other news…
Mum and I took a road trip today to a town about an hour away from home. It’s mum’s turn for a colonoscopy! We are staying at a motel with a kitchenette so that I can supervise her prep days, and then she gets admitted to the hospital early Thursday morning to complete the prep… Friday the procedure will get done and we’ll be home again on Saturday…
I brought my crochet and computer with me to keep busy… I think I should easily finish the blanket by the end of the week or run out of wool for it – one of the two!
Have a wonderful week!

Your crochet doilies are so cute! Good luck to your Mom, hope everything goes well.
How very pretty! I love to make a doily, too. The cotton yarn was a good idea! I’m visiting my Mom now–it’s wonderful to be here with her (and my Dad).
Your doilies are so cute! Love your colors.
Your doilies are just lovely! I was a bit shocked to see it under the food bowl but realized pretty quickly you were joking with us. The dreaded colonoscopy – hope it all goes well. They are never a good time.
Such pretty colours you used for your doily and I can see it getting a lot of use (but not, perhaps, beneath Sapphy’s bowl….although why not, she deserves something pretty too).
