Last week, in the midst of our little visit to Ararat for Mum’s procedure, I took a bit of time to wander around the town…. and found the loveliest shop!

When I saw the sign, I thought… hmm… that looks nice… particularly since the sign in the window said: “New, handmade & pre-loved for you and your home”….
But I told myself no… You don’t need anything… However, then I saw something in the window and just could not resist!!!
Inside was just gorgeous…

….beautiful doilies… I resisted…

Gorgeous vintage patterns!!! I resisted….

The owner, Wendy, is very talented – she restores old furniture as well, and I loved what she did with this table:

I resisted that too..
So what could I NOT resist???
Hmmmm… well, a tea set (which was what I spotted in the window) and a basket of course…

I am a sucker for both… and pink – oh my!!!

It’s a set of Shelley Art Deco tea cups and plates, plus the milk creamer, all from the 1920s…
I love the simplicity of it, even though of course I don’t NEED any more tea sets….. but I can imagine having a lovely tea party with it soon!
Wendy packed it all up in the basket (which I haven’t told DH I bought yet – he seems to think I have enough baskets… silly man!) and I couldn’t help but take this last photo with the gorgeous vintage paper cutter thingo…. (sorry, don’t know what it is called!)

Isn’t it beautiful? And isn’t the basket sweet? I didn’t have one that shape… haha! I really should count my baskets one day.. or not..!
I had a lovely chat with Wendy and went away a very satisfied customer!
I went back to the motel room and sheepishly told Mum I had bought another tea set… she laughed so much, because I got it from her!! She can’t resist either!
If you’re ever in Ararat, do drop in on Wendy and her eclectic shop – I know you will love it. For those half a world away, I hope you enjoyed this little tour!

That is exactly my kind of shop! I LOVE pre-loved things, much more than new. I also love what she did with that table – my husband just pained our buffet the color of the top. Your pink tea set and basket are just perfect!
Thanks for sharing, love it all.
Sounds like a shop I could get into major trouble if I walked through the door. Thrifting and rummaging in antique shops is always a great get away.
What a beautiful shop!!!! I could easily drop some large bills there! Love your purchases!
I would have loved that shop too! I would love those little nesting tables (to the right of the refinished one). The owner has an ‘eye’ for enticing displays.
