This is the view from my window today:
No, I am not on the 23rd floor looking out from my apartment in the Emirates… I am at DD’s in Holland, looking out on what I call “the moat” around her building 🙂
This was not a planned visit… but with the temperatures in Dubai soaring to 45C and being stuck in my little apartment waiting for one last piece of paperwork before I can head to Oz for the winter, I was going a bit stir crazy… so I suggested to DH that I use my frequent flier points to book a ticket to Holland and visit DD for a week.
I got here on Sunday night, and it is already Wednesday – yes time flies when you are having fun!
Before I left I joined Chookyblue for a little while in celebrating her chookshed party…. I did a bit of prep work for my heart blocks and the last two mermaids:
I played a bit with these pretty fabrics:
And I put the binding on these three Micro Mini Quilts:
They are all different sizes…
They’re all less than 6″ though, and all three made from scraps.
Making Micro Mini Quilts is going to add to my scrap hoarding, I’m afraid! They are so fun to make!!
So far DD and I have just been relaxing and enjoying each other’s company… We’ve been doing a bit of business planning too – thinking about which stitcheries we are going to put out next, and getting way too many ideas to keep up with!
We had a cuppa out yesterday…
Want some hot chocolate with your cream anyone?!
I have to say, they do hot chocolate well here 🙂
Well, that’s it for this post….. hope everyone is having a good week…
Have a fabulous time with your girl……. Hope the paperwork is sorted soon……..glad you got to join in the party virtually to……
Sounds like an ideal thing to do to avoid the heat and a great reason to visit your daughter. Your minis have tured out extra cute 🙂
Have a fun relaxing week. Love you mini’s, they are so darn cute. Hugs,xx
My goodness woman–you don’t have feet–you have wings!!! Bet DD was happy to have a nice surprise vacation with you before you go back to Oz!!!
lovely little mats you made–
enjoy, di
Well, that was a surprise to see you in Holland, but hopefully that paperwork will be done soon & you can come home for winter. Ballarat night’s have actually been warmer for the last week, than here. How can that be? I’ve a conundrum for you when you get back & really need your eyes and expertise to help me with it. Enjoy the rest of your time with DD. Safe travels & take care.
Lovely way to escape the heat and I bet DD is delighted to have you around. I love those mini quilts – I keep meaning to do more myself. Nothing like a decent hot chocolate….
Hugz
So nice you can visit your daughter and have a “cuppa” together. Looks delicious! Your mini quilts are so pretty but what do you use them for? Hope you get your paperwork soon. In the meantime enjoy yourself! Nancy
I love to spend a week with my DD, too! I am sure you are having a wonderful time-savor the hours! The hot chocolate looks scrumptious!
Do hope that paper work comes soon, and you enjoy your time in Holland.
How fun to out run the heat! Alas we used up all DH’s frequent flyer miles a while ago! Would love to join you in Oz for the Winter.
Sweet little quilts.
Even with the heat and humidity we have been having that cuppa hot chocolate looks divine!
Hello Joy,
Gosh you get around. Enjoy the time with your daughter. Love the mini quilts.
Happy days.
Bev.
