Yesterday was a lovely day… and a pretty special one too….. strangely enough, no fabric was involved!!!!
I started the day with breakfast at Mum and Dad’s… Mum had made a lovely spread for us…
.. with a bit of a smorgasbord to choose from on the kitchen bench…
My spot was a special one at the end of the table…
… with a yummy Dutch “beschuit” (kind of a rusk)… and my Dad’s specialty hidden under this cute Dutch girl:
Dad makes the best soft boiled eggs in the world…. 🙂
I got a few pressies too… my dear friend Robyn made me this bag:
It’s made from furnishing fabric, and has a drawstring ribbon:
I’d never seen this design before.. it’s very cute and will come in handy! I’m thinking crochet or knitting.. or hand sewing… 🙂
My sister gave me this cookbook:
I don’t think the birthday cake counts as life changing food… but it was very yummy 🙂 Dad “baked it” (ie he ordered it from the cheesecake shop 🙂 )
“From 50 to 100” is a nice sentiment.. and if I do manage to get to 100 I hope I will still be sewing!
So when I said no fabric was involved, I forgot about the bag… and the birthday money I got which will probably get spent on fabric 🙂 🙂
The rest of the day was just relaxing and the kids “cooked pizza” (Dominoes) for dinner 🙂
My head tells me that turning 50 means I am old… but really, I don’t feel much different than last week 🙂
I am slowly getting back into visiting blogs and enjoying catching up with what everyone is doing….. till next time…

Happy Birthday 🎉. Fifty is the new twenty. I will be 71 this year and I’m not sure what that is going to feel like but I’m betting the same as 70 😂😂😂

Looks like you had a pretty perfect special birthday! Happy (albeit I guess now somewhat belated) birthday wishes to you! I don’t remember feeling any different when I turned 40, 50 OR 60 and must admit I keep waiting for the shoe to drop. So many of my friends have had such issues with the ‘big numbers’ so maybe I’m missing something?
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! A great milestone birthday – perfect for reflecting on how far you’ve come and all of the adventures that still await. 50 was a turning point birthday for me, and I haven’t looked back. This past December was another milestone b’day – the Beatles song (hint 64). It just gets better.
