  1. So what do you back a picnic quilt with? I’ve tried flannel and some darker prints….you know how flannel will pick up every stray leave and grass blade there is….

  2. That’s a really nice block and I haven’t made any in a long time–
I think I will use the idea on a soon to happen trip to oldest grand daughter and get her started on a pile! (You need to work on the Honey Bun one–it is very pretty!)

  3. I had to grin when you talked about digging through the trash after a quilting class for strings. What a great idea! 😀 Enjoyed seeing your string projects

  4. The quilt looks so pretty with all coordinating fabrics. I love the multi-color scrappy ones too. Well I just love string quilts no matter how they are made and look. LOL!

  5. Life can be so annoying when it gets in the way of our sewing, but it looks like you’re off to a great start with that project. I love your picnic rug…wow, that is so big and amazing!

  6. The table topper idea definitely caught my eye for a project to tackle with my “spare parts.”

  7. I think it’s a fun idea to make things to go on the table from favorite scraps. That way you can see them often. I just might have to do it too.

  8. I love it. Your quilt top is so soft and pretty. It will be beautiful. You are a clever one finding strips in bins after classes. One mans trash is another’s treasure and this would certainly be something I would do. I am definitely not a fabric snob. I love them all! Thank you so much for joining the All About Strings Blog Hop. Your quilt top is a LOVE!

  9. Thank you for sharing and inspiring today. I love your mini on the wall. Those fabrics are gorgeous together. And your other projects are wonderful.

  10. So there you go–just stringing us along!!!!
and making us all want to run to the quilt room and start our own–
    stringing along!!!
    luv, di

  11. I always hate when life messes up my sewing. LOL Love all the projects you shared. Hope you can get back to them soon to finish up. Thanks for sharing.

  12. All of your string pieces are great. I am looking forward to the finish of the last one. I find it amazing how diffferent that simple quilting is making that block look.

  13. Life does happen and it is always inconvenient!!! But you did get a cute mat for your coffee table out of it!! That’s a win in my book!

  14. I did a strings project a few years ago… and keep meaning to get my ‘strings’ together for another one sometime… they are so varied and effective…

  15. Thanks for the inspiration with the honey bun. I have a jelly roll that’s been hanging around forever. Maybe I will cut some of the strips in halves, or there abouts and give this a go!?!

  16. You have some great projects going! Good luck finishing–they will all be amazing! Thanks for sharing them!

  17. This has been a lot of fun. Everyone’s quilts are so different because everyone’s strings are so different. I have been wanting to make one of my daughters a picnic quilt, and I think it may just have to be a string quilt!

  18. I cant believe I’ve never donemuch in the way of string sewing, although I do love the look. And of course they appeal to the scrappy quilter inside. Oh and don’t worry, I’ve been known to go through the odd rubbish bin too, but friends know me now and make a pile of scrappiness for me rather than throwing the bits in the bin!
