On Sunday my beautiful mum turned 80! We had a lovely celebration…
It’s hard planning a party in this day and age… although we are out of lockdown, we still have some restrictions, so in the end we decided to have the party at Mum’s.
We invited a small group of ladies for Petit Fours and Tea….
DD planned the whole event – baking and cooking everything from scratch. It was her birthday present for her Oma… and it turned out beautifully!
After the ladies left, it was lunch time and the menfolk were allowed to join us 🙂 We added pies and sandwiches to the leftovers…
There was plenty for all, and then also a birthday cake which I forgot to take a photo of!
After lunch we headed home and had a nap.. hehe… then I started packing, because my birthday present to mum was to take her away for a few days….
Yesterday we got in the car and headed for the mountains…
I found a little two bedroom cottage on airbnb for three nights, and it is just lovely! There is a kitchen so we can do most of our meals here… and of course I brought Baby B and we have taken over the dining room:
We are also doing some reading, some napping… and in general just having a lovely relax!
I am thankful that I can have this special time with my mum…. making memories…

Congratulations on your mom’s 80th birthday! That looks like a lovely table setting and spread! Good for you to take your mom for a few days of RnR. My sister took our mom out to the mountains here for a week and she said it was one of the best things she ever did. They enjoyed each other’s company and M learned lots of things about our parent’s lives before they immigrated to Canada. Again enjoy!
