I have to say last week was exhausting.. mostly for poor mum of course, but also for me mentally…
Last Week
At age 84, Mum ended up having to be on a liquid diet for three days. She was not well at all, and I ended up taking her to emergency in the middle of the night and admitting her early…
Once in the hospital, I can’t say they were very organized – they were three hours late with her medication and needed me to remind them, and some other things weren’t right, so that was upsetting.
However, all’s well that ends well (one of Mum’s favorite quotes). The procedure went well, and she got a clear bill of health! By the way, for all those who were asking, I got my results, and they were all good too. So both of us are on the list to do this all again in three years. Mum said – I’m not doing it again!!! I don’t blame her….
While mum was in hospital, I had the motel room to myself…

I always bring my own quilt with me when I go away, I don’t like hotel/motel bedding…
Op Shopping (Thrift Stores)
I did a little bit of op shopping… and found some bargains…
This was at Vinnies:

Fowlers is the Australian version of Ball’s canning… I hadn’t seen this book before, so that was a real find!
These were bundled up for a dollar:

The little pile on the right had lots of good recipe books in it!
I’ve also been collecting casserole dishes of all shapes and sizes for a community lunch we have once a month that I help cook for. If the dishes don’t get returned, it’s not a disaster! These were all a dollar each. I’ll still put my name on them… not sure if a permanent marker will work?

Home Again & Rose Cottage Begins!
When I got home, I arrived to see this view from our back porch:

It’s very exciting! I have lost my clothesline, sadly…

It’s an old-style one and I love it because it is solid and huge… we will have to see after Rose Cottage is done whether there is space to put it somewhere else.
Today, a truck brought more building supplies:

Hopefully, tomorrow there will be some more progress!
That’s it for today, tomorrow I’ve got something else fun to share with you!

You have been busy with medical stuff and it is sad that you have to be the supervisor ! Glad things worked out and you are home again. Good luck with the building if Rose Cottage and look forward to seeing it advance. Take care.

I’m so glad your Mom got a good result and hope she continues to feel good. I’m with her on no more procedures! Until they develop a wand they can wave over me, I’m refusing – lol! How exciting about the Rose Cottage. Hope all goes smoothly with it.
I’m with your Mom–no more procedures for me either! The work on the new cottage is so exciting! Glad for the good reports!
I’m glad you were there to see that your Mom got her medication. My late husband had Parkinson’s, where on-time medication is vital, and I learned to bring a bottle of his meds along whenever he went to the hospital. I had to get really pushy sometimes; I thought it was downright cruel to delay them.
Good to hear you are both well enough to be let out on the world! It will be fun to watch Rose Cottage grow…

I hope the build goes well with few hiccups! Are your parents excited about their new home?
Glad you both got a clean bill of health. And it’s exciting to see the beginning of the Cottage!
