Today’s Monday This and That comes from half way across the world from where I usually am…
Mum and I started our 5 week adventure last Wednesday when we boarded a plane to Arabia…
Our 14 hour flight was delayed by 3 hours when not one, but two passengers had medical emergencies and had to leave the plane, along with their luggage!
I was so thankful that we had booked a two night stop over in the city that never sleeps, and did not have to catch a connecting flight…
It was so nice not to have to stress about if we were going to miss our next flight.
We stayed at the same apartment building where we used to live, in the hotel section. I like it because all the rooms have a little kitchen so we could cook if we wanted to. As a bonus, one of the managers recognized me and upgraded our room to a two bedroom one! We were very spoiled!!
On Friday morning we headed to a nearby mall where we wandered around running some errands….
It was nice to see the old familiar food…
and I was amazed by the supermarket shelves…
No signs of shortages here!!!
The little mini mart next to the hotel also had full shelves, and I was pleased to see that the street cats were still being looked after:
We did eat out one night and I enjoyed the delicious salads and dips they had:
The head chef remembered me as well and I managed to convince him to give me his recipe for Hommus……. 🙂 So when I get home I will try it and share it with you too!
Plans for My Time Away
While I don’t have an actual to do list, I do have some things I want to do while I’m away….
- enjoy, relax and enjoy some more!
- work on some stitcheries
- catch up on writing some blog posts that I have taken photos for ages ago… and haven’t had time to write
- chat, and relax, and enjoy my time with family 🙂
- get my inbox to “almost zero” (it’s currently at just over 600 unread emails!!!!)
- enjoy, relax, and….. enjoy 🙂
I think that list is quite doable, don’t you think?
Have you got a bit of This and That to share? Then join in and link your blog post below!
Sounds like you are having fun…and have a VERY doable list for this week! Enjoy your time with family, it’s all too fleeting.
Sounds like the trip is just what you need! Enjoy and thanks for sharing the photos! You were here and not in Australia when I first started reading your blog! Take care!
Enjoy your trip! At least you won’t be short of reading material on the plane with 600 emails to read and now one more.
Looks like a fun trip already! The food would be such fun to try. Hope all continues to flow well.
Gosh Joy I want more photos – lol! How nice you can stay in a familiar and comforting place where you are recognized. I am looking forward to the hummus recipe! I’m so glad you have this time with your Mum – very precious.
Sounds like a lovely time, so far!
It sounds like you’re off to a good start on your list of things to do. =)
Enjoy your holiday. Glad to see the street kitties are being looked after. 🙂
Have a marvelous time! Sounds like you have some great things planned.
I think, if I had 600 emails to read, I’d just scuttle the lot and start afresh!
I’m late reading this, but hopefully you are enjoying and not caught up here with rain, more rain & the most horrendous floods all over. Take care & hugs.
