Every year in January, I look around at the free BOMs that are available and pick some to start… this year is no different, although I am finding that there are less free ones around than there used to be 10 years ago – or is it only me?
I remember waaaaay back in 2009, there were soooo many free ones around that my bestie Alice and I found and started (yeah, most of them are UFOs, lol) but maybe it is a good thing that there aren’t that many anymore!!!
This year, I have picked 6 new ones to start, and I am being good – I’ve picked 6 old ones to keep working on and hopefully finish:

I am going to try to use my stash this year and see if I can have a “no buy fabric” YEAR!!!! Do you think I can do it???!!!
My Tracking Pages
I have made myself tracking pages for the new BOMs, printed them out, and put them in my planner, ready to go:

I’ve also made free blank ones for you, more on that at the end of the post.
On with the BOMs I picked this year!
Rainbow Scrap Challenge
This year is going to be the year that I particpate in this challenge and complete it!!!! (Positive thoughts here!!!!)
I am going to make two of these, using the following free patterns from the Fat Quarter Shop:
Cheshire Cats Flake Quilt by Stacey Day
and

The RSC challenge is hosted by So Scrappy, and this month’s color is BLUE.
A Quilting Life Bom
I’ve never participated in any of Sherri’s blocks of the month, but I thought I would this year. I like the look of the first block, so I’m going to go for it!

I think the blocks are free for the whole year… the first block is available to download HERE.
Erica Arndt’s Sew With Me
Again, I’ve never participated in any of Erica’s BOMS, but I came across it at the right time and want to join in.
There are two versions – one free and one paid. I love the paid version with the medalion in the middle, so I did buy it. But you can just do the free one. The first block is available to download.
You can find out everything about this BOM HERE.
Fat Quarter Shop’s 250 Year Celebration Quilt
I know I am not American, but I thought I would celebrate with all my friends from the US! I don’t know if you know, but I did my whole primary school in an American school… so I feel like part of me is American…. I know more about American history than I do Australian… !!! Fun fact, my high school education was British… yes, I am a mixed-up person!

So I thought I would join in on this one… It isn’t free; you do need to buy the book, so I went ahead and got that.
You can get the information sheet about the BOM HERE.
And the book and supplies HERE.
Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt
And again, I’ve never done any of Edyta’s BOMs, but for some reason I fell in love with the first blocks… I hope the rest of the quilt is going to be nice too! So that was a late addition to my list of new BOMs for the year…
Find all about this free BOM HERE.
Free BOM Trackers
I’ve got a variety of options of free BOM trackers for you, similar to the ones above. You can add your own quilt name, stick a picture of the quilt in, etc…

You can download these for FREE HERE!
Canva Editable Tracker for Purchase
For those of you who know how to use Canva, I also made an editable version with more options.

I’ve made it easy to drop in photos, and you can add a different background, change the colors, write in the titles, and so on.
I do not have instructions on how to edit them – you must have a basic knowledge of how to use Canva!
They are up for sale in my Payhip Shop HERE
or in my Etsy shop HERE
(depending on which platform you prefer!)
Both shops have 25% off at the moment.
YouTube Video
Last but not least, I’ve made a video doing a flip through of the new planning pages and showing the older projects I am working on! This post is long enough, you can check out the video HERE if you are interested!
So… let me know which BOMs you are joining in, please! Not that I need more temptation, but… You never know!!

Yes I’ve noticed that you have to buy patterns or pay by the month on many BOMs, sad isn’t it. I “joined” the Quilting Life BOM but haven’t made that first block yet. Like you, I like the look of it. Your pages are just adorable, you do great work!
Thanks Linda! I love ticking things off, lol! I’ve just cut out all the pieces for the Quilting life bom.. just need to sew them up. xx
Thank you Joy.
I’ve decided to go for Erica Arndts BOM.
thank you for the BOM tracker sheets. really kind if you.
a good idea to try and not but any fabric and use what we have.
having a sort out is a good idea too , being reminded of stash and WIPS.
May 2026 be a happy year of crafting.
Emma
You’re welcome Emma, and glad you’re joining in on Erica’s bom! You have a wonderful year of crafting too! xx
What a beautiful way to keep track of all you are making!
Thanks, I need it!!! xx
