On with the last steps in our Spring Mystery Quilt Along!
For a full list of the steps, look at this blog post.
This is what we have so far:

In our last step before putting the blocks together we will be adding some appliqué…. and for our lovely members, the option of embroidery!
While we could finish the top now by sewing all the blocks together, I thought we’d fill up the background fabric centers of the blocks with a simple flower appliqué:

Step 1
Download and print out the appliqué pattern from either the member’s site or the freebies site below:
Trace the flower parts onto Steam-a-Seam, or use your preferred method of appliqué.

I do raw edge applique so I use Steam-a-Seam Lite, and then for this project I will be using a blanket stitch to sew the flower and center down.
The flower fits perfectly in a 5″ square so I used some leftover charm squares, but you can use whichever scraps you like.
We will be making (8) eight simple flowers, and sew them into the middle of 8 blocks that have the center square of background fabric.
Make four of these:

And four of these:

This step will take a little while.. probably even longer than the half-square-triangles, which I thought would take up the most time! But I think this is a bit more fun… !
Again, use your favorite method of appliqué. If you like needleturn, then your flowers will be a little smaller than mine, but still will look lovely.
For The Members
Check the membership area for four sweet flower embroideries that you can trace and mix with the appliqué, or just use embroidery!
Next week we will be sewing the blocks together and the top will be done!
Don’t Like Applique?
If you don’t like appliqué, then feel free to leave this step out… you can just finish it off as it is, or add a lovely quilted design in the middle of the squares!
I’ve got a lot on my mind at the moment, so if I am not making sense with these instructions, please leave a comment with questions or whatever, and I will answer in the comment section!
See you next week for the last step!
Happy Sewing!

Nice job on putting up the tutorial! Very pretty progress!
Pity I can’t always access your blog as this looks like another lovely QAL. Take care & hugs.
