A bit of this and that… on a Monday…
Weekend Happenings
I spent a fair bit of time in the sewing room on the weekend. I do like it out there 🙂 I finished this block that I started on FNWF:
And Henrietta is ready to be appliqued:
I am getting all the applique blocks to the “ready to applique” stage, and then I will applique them all at the same time so that I don’t have to change threads too often.
A few weeks ago I asked Dad to put wheels on an Ikea table that I have had for years. I really like the table, but it’s very heavy to move around – and I do like to fold it up and down and move it around! So I thought wheels might be a good idea.
Dad did a good job:
Now I can just pull it out and use it when I need a bigger surface. My giant cutting board fits on it nicely:
I used it to trim up my tumbler quilt:
After that, I folded it up and wheeled it back into place. I’m very happy with the addition of wheels!
THIS WEEK’S THIS AND THAT
In the Kitchen
A few weeks ago I prepped a bunch of meals ahead and put them in the freezer. They have come in handy and given me more time in the sewing room! I’ll be using some of them this week.
A friend also gave us a large piece of pickled lamb. I’ve never had that in my life! Apparently you cook it just like corned beef/silverside, so I will try it this week and see what it is like!
Menu Plan:
Monday – Roast Pork
Tuesday – Butter Chicken
Wednesday – Leftovers
Thursday – Pickled Lamb
Friday – Leftovers
Saturday – Meatloaf
Sunday – Leftovers
In the Sewing Room
Chicken Salad Sewalong – Make Edna and Beatrice blocks
Kitchen SAL – Mixing it Up and Strawberry Jam blocks (not doing these in the right order at all!)
Finish wedding quilt – top done!!
In the House and Garden
Zone 25 – Kitchen – spend 15 min daily
Plant some herbs and spinach
I’ve got Mr Linky set up again, and I am also putting this up on Instagram and Facebook, in case you don’t have a blog and want to join in that way. Just leave a comment on the posts there 🙂
Do you want to join in?
You don’t need to have your post formatted the same way as I do, but you can if you want… Just link your blog post containing a recap of last week, or the weekend, or your plans for this week…. or any bit of this and that you want to share with us!
Last time I asked about Gingerbread House and I have not received your response. No great surprise because I have been having computer problems. Will you try again please. I hate to miss out on any.
Thanks,
Linnie
Hi Linnie, I replied already and will reply again now. The blocks you asked about will be out later this month in June and next month in July xx
Love, love that chicken block, Joy!! So glad to see you are back blogging and enjoying your studio!
Love seeing a glimpse of a sewing room. Having a piece of furniture that can move around becomes multifunctional in that you can use it multiple places for multiple reasons.
You !re so organized and get so much done!……Nancy
The wheels will make your table so much easier to move around and you will probably use it more now…….
Great idea to put wheels on the table, makes it very versatile! You are starting to look very organised and settled.
Keep meaning to join but distracted with other things. Love your kitchen SAL and wow the table works a treat. Did your Dad do that after we saw you? I need to re-arrange again too, and I should be able to pick up Betsy tomorrow after her service. I’ve missed her immensely, especially in this revolting weather. We love pickled pork and yes cook it similar to your corned silverside.
Talk soon, take care & hugs.
I do envy you that wonderful table! I’d love to have more working surface in my so-called studio but alas no space for such an addition.
I’m hoping for a review of the pickled lamb because I’ve never heard of such a thing!
That table does look very handy – and great to have a handy Dad to add the wheels – you sure have been busy – loving the Chooks.
I am really loving your chicken block, but also the fork and watermelon. This quilt is going to be so cute.
That’s a great table for your sewing room and what a wonderfully big cutting mat!
